A Snail's Pace
A comic about how my writing is going
If I do an honest assessment of how I’m doing on my book project, it’s plenty discouraging. It is taking years longer than I ever imagined it would at the start of my journey.
I have had so much to learn about myself, the craft, and the process. If I knew how unbelievably hard it would be be, I probably wouldn’t have started.
Yet, I’m still at it. That’s the work; it’s lonely and plodding with no guarantees. There are days of inspired clarity and many more days when writing is like hiking in mud. My only options are: keep going or give up.
As for progress, I can report that I’m better at slogging through mud. Despite the struggles, I’ve managed to cover a lot of ground over time. No shortcuts.
That’s the gift of not using A.I. All the work I put in is my own. It’s in my bones.
One day, I’ll be able to discuss in detail what I’ve had to do and learn along the way, but for now, I’ll keep writing and revising until I’m there.
Thanks for reading and being here, in spite of all.

As a person who's been working on a novel for over 10 years, I feel this so deeply!! It takes the time it takes. But, yeah...I'm "still" writing.
