Animals are my favorite subject to draw. For me, this comic feels deeply personal. The panels are a true, if whimsical, representation of what has been a very busy summer for me and years in the making to get here.
In news, I’m excited to share that I’ll be offering limited custom art commissions soon and for the first time ever! I had a lot to learn about physical materials and the logistics of setting this up, but it’s nearly ready to pilot.
Coming soon! CartoonConnie Custom Pet Portraits
This is something that I’ve done as a hobby for family and friends over the years and it has been a source of great joy.
These pet portraits will showcase a different style than you know from my cartoons and an exploration of new styles and media that I’ve been creating art with. I love doing these and look forward to sharing a little of that joy with all of you.
Howard Thurman once said, “Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”
Since I was in high school, I’ve always have a paraphrase of this quote written on a piece of paper near me: Do what makes you feel alive.
It’s not easy to keep doing, but I think I’ve managed to hold onto this ideal as an adult.
Stay tuned for new artwork to come! Thanks for reading and being along for the journey.
To new subscribers, thanks for joining! This is where I share a new comic strip each week, while I work on new projects and my longer graphic novel. You can also find my entire cartoon archive here, all the way back to when I first started teaching myself to draw comics 15 years ago. Against all practical odds, I still haven’t given up the dream.
Ways to support this independent publication: Subscribe to once-a-week posts, Share with a friend, Support CartoonConnie on Ko-fi, Follow on Substack or Instagram. Art prints and gifts are available in my shop.
