I can so relate to this. Both from observing and being the phone user. I have neighbor with a lovely doggo and when I walk around the park she's always on her phone when walking the dog. It definitely reminds to be more mindful and be more present in life and away from the phone. It's hard. I'm typing this on the phone.
it's inescapable, right? our phones are also a means of connection. I think I will set some boundaries around times when I'm with friends or when I'm doing something that doesn't require looking at it. thanks for reading!
So... It's complicated. For many years, as days go by, I feel like the digital space consumes me more and more, and I've forgotten (sort of) what I enjoy doing offline.
I've been focusing in spending time with family and friends -while battling the urge to check my phone instead-, I've used parental control on myself, that sometimes work, sometimes I ignore. There is progress nonetheless! I use too the "focus mode" on my phone to avoid getting notifications for a while, and use a timer while it's active so I dedicate time to read, study something or do important things from work.
Also the "bedtime mode" that makes everything grayscale, that helps a bit too. It's on most of the time. Our brain truly like shiny, colorful things...
I write a lot! With pen and paper, again, battling the urge to make it all digital, to have all on my phone that sometimes causes more stress than anything else.
I've been thinking about getting more "analog" things, a watch that doesn't have bluetooth on it, or a real alarm, so I don't check my phone first thing in the morning, if I can I read physical books instead of ebooks and I may get an mp3 player at some point, what I use my phone the most besides chatting is to listen to music.
Some rules are... Not using my phone while I walk my dog! No using my phone -for anything but reading- 30 minutes before bed. I've got more but the other rules I don't follow that well, getting there tho!
I know it's hard, you're not alone.
Thank you for everything you make, because what you do make me feel heard, understood and less alone.
thanks for sharing and for your kind words, Emi! sounds like you strike a healthy balance in your mindful routines. that's very encouraging. writing is still one the cornerstones of my analog reflection time too :)
"Everything is Tuberculous" in the middle of the first panel? Don't recognize the other covers.

Striking it! Making progress, even thought I'm not yet where I'd like. It's always a pleasure to read your thoughts, have a beautiful day. :)
Nice! I'm trying to do a better use of my "time phone", for example Reading interesting newsletter instead of scrolling
