I'm at a loss for words this week, so I drew a wordless comic. It made me feel better and made me think of self-affirmation as a powerful act in daily life, no matter how small.
I also revisited these words from Maya Angelou that I often need to hear again and again. I hand-wrote them down and sketched her image in 2014 as a note-to-self.
Maybe old wisdom can still prevail. Happy Juneteenth.
Sketchbook Repost: Maya Angelou On Using Your Anger
Whenever I feel at a loss, I go back to this advice that Maya Angelou gave comedian Dave Chappelle in a 2006 "Iconoclasts" interview. I'm reposting for myself and the exquisite pain of this moment in the story of this country.
